At SRK Scan Centre, our commitment to early and accurate fetal diagnosis led us to an unusual
and insightful case — antenatal detection of Binder’s Syndrome (maxillonasal dysplasia) through
advanced 3D/4D ultrasound imaging. The fetus presented with midface hypoplasia, flat nasal
bridge, and absent nasolabial angle, all classic signs of this rare craniofacial anomaly. Traditional
2D imaging raised suspicion, but it was the 3D rendering that brought clarity — allowing us to
visualize facial contours in stunning detail and confirm the diagnosis confidently.
Early detection of such syndromes is not just about medical accuracy — it’s about empowering
parents and clinicians with the time and clarity to make informed decisions. In this case, timely
referral for genetic evaluation and postnatal surgical counseling was made possible. This case
highlights how 3D/4D ultrasound is no longer a luxury tool, but an essential part of modern fetal
medicine — especially in the hands of experienced radiologists and fetal imaging specialists. At
SRK Scan Centre, we take pride in using this technology not just to create images, but to change
outcomes.
