Colour Doppler

Color Doppler Imaging is a specialized ultrasound technique used at SRK Scan Centre to visualize blood flow through vessels. By using sound waves, this non-invasive procedure measures the direction and speed of blood flow, offering valuable insights into vascular health. The real-time imaging allows physicians to evaluate how well blood is flowing through arteries and veins, helping in the detection of various conditions affecting circulation, such as blood clots, blocked or narrowed blood vessels, and abnormalities in blood flow.
Color Doppler is highly effective in diagnosing several conditions, including deep vein thrombosis (DVT), peripheral artery disease (PAD), and aneurysms. It can also assess blood flow in organs, assisting in the diagnosis of conditions like liver cirrhosis, kidney diseases, and testicular torsion. In pregnancy, Color Doppler helps monitor the blood flow to the fetus, ensuring proper development. This advanced imaging tool plays a crucial role in early detection and management of vascular diseases, offering a safe, accurate, and efficient diagnostic solution.

Test Preparation

  • Fasting: For abdominal Doppler studies, patients may be required to fast for 6-8 hours before the scan to reduce gas and allow for clearer imaging of blood vessels.
  • Hydration: For certain Doppler studies, particularly in the pelvic area, drinking plenty of water and having a full bladder may be required.
  • Comfortable Clothing: Wear loose, comfortable clothing, and you may be asked to change into a gown for the procedure.
  • Medication: Continue taking prescribed medications unless instructed otherwise by your doctor.
