ultrasound Sonography Guided Intervention

At SRK Scan Centre our advanced ultrasound platforms allow us to detect various conditions and perform ultrasound-guided interventions. It is an invaluable tool for both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as it helps position the needle accurately, positively impacting treatment outcomes.
These medical procedures help visualize internal structures and guide minimally invasive interventions. They use real-time ultrasound imaging that enables healthcare providers to precisely target specific areas within the body.

Ultrasound Imaging

An ultrasound transducer is placed on the skin’s surface over the affected area. It emits high-frequency sound waves that bounce off internal structures, creating detailed images on a monitor.

Needle or Instrument Insertion

Using the generated ultrasound images, healthcare providers can insert a needle, catheter, or other instruments through the skin and into the target area with precision.

Real-Time Monitoring

It produces ultrasound images in real-time enabling healthcare providers to continuously monitor the procedure and accurately position the instrument or the needle.
At SRK Scan Centre we prioritize patient safety and the real-time imaging lowers the risk of damage to nearby structures, reduces complications, and ensures precision while carrying out procedures. Additionally, it’s safe for multiple applications and suitable for pregnant women and children as it does not involve ionizing radiation. Ultrasound-guided interventions are beneficial because they are versatile, precise, minimally invasive and allow real-time monitoring.

We are well-equipped to perform the following diagnostic Interventions

01

FNAC (Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology)

Our advanced sonography equipment helps insert the needle into the abnormal area, enabling us to collect fluid/tissue samples. This procedure can be performed on the thyroid, neck, breast, liver, pancreas, etc., without the influence of local anaesthesia.

02

Biopsy

This procedure is known for its precision and higher diagnostic yield, wherein a wide-bore needle is used to obtain tissue samples from abnormal area of the body. It's typically done under the influence of local anaesthesia depending and is used to obtain tissue samples from the liver, abdominal mass, breast lump, lymph node, muscle, kidney, etc.

03

TRUS (Trans Rectal ultrasound Guided) 12 quadrant prostate biopsy

This procedure is typically done under the influence of local anaesthesia to rule out prostate cancer in patients with increasing PSA (prostate-specific antigen) or with a hard prostate during a rectal examination.

04

Pleural / ascitic / joint fluid / abscess aspiration

This procedure is done to collect abnormal fluid formed in the chest, abdomen or other areas of the body to evaluate and make a proper diagnosis of the type of disease or medical condition.

Test Preparation

  • Based on the procedure, instructions related to fasting, fluid intake, etc., will be provided to you while booking your appointment
  • You will be required to carry your doctor’s prescription and previous diagnostic reports you may have on the day of the test
  • Wear loose clothing and do not wear any jewellery during the procedure
